Philippine organizations are accelerating cybersecurity modernization efforts as AI-powered cyber threats continue to grow across the Asia-Pacific region. A new study commissioned by Fortinet and conducted by Forrester Consulting reveals that many businesses are struggling to keep pace with increasingly automated and sophisticated attacks.
According to the report, 57% of organizations identified AI-driven cyberattacks as one of their biggest concerns. Attackers are now using artificial intelligence to automate phishing campaigns, discover vulnerabilities faster, and launch attacks at machine speed.
At the same time, internal security challenges remain a major issue. Around 54% of organizations reported difficulties caused by fragmented security tools and overwhelming alert volumes, while nearly half still rely heavily on manual security workflows. These limitations slow down incident detection and response, leaving organizations more exposed to modern threats.
The research also highlighted that cybersecurity maturity across the region remains relatively low. Only 16% of surveyed organizations were considered to have advanced security maturity, while most continue operating with gaps in visibility, automation, and threat response capabilities.
To address these challenges, companies are beginning to shift toward unified security platforms. Businesses are consolidating multiple security tools into integrated systems that improve visibility, simplify operations, and reduce alert fatigue. The study found that organizations adopting platform-based security expect faster response times, better analyst productivity, and improved SOC efficiency.
Artificial intelligence is also becoming a major investment priority for defenders. More than 90% of organizations surveyed plan to increase spending on AI-driven security technologies, with many expecting improvements in threat detection accuracy, incident response speed, and operational efficiency.
For Philippine businesses and government agencies, the findings underscore the urgency of strengthening cybersecurity readiness as digital transformation, cloud adoption, and hybrid work environments continue to expand. Experts suggest that organizations focusing on automation, integrated security platforms, and AI-enabled defenses will be better positioned to handle the rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape.
